Preparing For Your Professional Senior Sitting.

This is a chance of a lifetime! You are an individual with a chance to show it. Each senior will have their own exceptional experience because the personal items that they bring will offer that unique insight into their view of life. We encourage each student to bring accessories for any and all extra-curricular activities. Sports props, musical instrument, honors awards and even a favorite stuffed animal are great for variety and fun. Clothing is another way to show the real you. Formal outfits as well as casuals with flip-flops can show the depth of your uniqueness and are great for giving to the grandparents.

Do’s and Don'ts for a great Senior Sitting

A good night’s sleep is the #1 thing you can do for a great portrait.
This will minimize dark circles and keep you upbeat for posing.

Water and a light meal prior to the sitting is a great idea to help keep your mind on having fun.

Formals
LadiesBring a strapless top to wear under the formal drape and for the cap and gown pictures.
MenBring a white T-shirt to wear under the pleated tuxedo shirt and for the cap and gown pictures.

Clothing
It is important to follow the rules of fashion when being photographed. It’s not just models that have to watch how the camera portrays them, we have to as well. The following is a guideline to help you look your best. There are always exceptions and our photographers can do wonders with well placed props if that outfit is your absolute favorite.

Don'ts - Try not to wear big stripes and patterns or shiny materials. These will draw attention away from the face. Lessen the contrast between tops and bottoms. Don’t wear dark pants and a white top.

Do’sThink about total outfits from shoes to accessories.
Your pet and a casual outfit or a letter jacket with all of your athletic accessories.

Hair
It is best not to try a new style for your portraits. A style that you are comfortable with will help you relax. If a haircut is necessary, try to schedule it one or two weeks before your photo session. Remember to bring a comb or brush for a quick touch-up before being photographed.

Skin
Avoid sunburn or excessive tanning, make your look natural. Sunless tanning can appear orange under photographic lights. Don’t worry about blemishes and breakouts, they can be retouched.

Girls
Keep your make-up natural. Do not attempt to achieve a tan with make-up. This usually results in an un-natural look that you will not be happy with. Our photographic artists will remove blemishes, dark circles and smooth the skin before the final portraits are printed. Birth marks and scars are minimized but not removed unless requested.

Boys
Depending on the age, a neat trim or shave may be necessary. Our photographic artists will remove blemishes, dark circles and smooth the skin before the final portraits are printed. Birth marks and scars are minimized but not removed unless requested.

Glasses
If you wear glasses, wear them in your portraits. Our photographers are trained to watch for glass glare. If necessary we will take a shot of the student without glasses to use for digital retouching.

Remember to bring a brush, comb and make-up to freshen up between clothing changes.
